CONTRAST THERAPY

What are the benefits of contrast therapy?
Contrast therapy involves alternating between heat (sauna) and cold (ice baths). Heat encourages relaxation, loosens tight muscles, and increases circulation. Cold exposure can reduce soreness and inflammation, and many people find it helps them feel more energised and “reset”.

People commonly use contrast therapy to support:

  • Muscle recovery and reduced DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness)
  • Improved circulation and a “reset” feeling in the body
  • Stress relief and nervous system regulation
  • Mental clarity and improved mood
  • Better sleep (especially when used consistently)

Everyone responds differently, but most people notice the best results when they attend regularly.

Is contrast therapy suitable for beginners?
Yes. Beginners are welcome. We recommend starting gently: use the sauna as normal, then begin with the warmer ice baths (8°C) and work your way down over time as you build confidence and tolerance. If you have any questions, our friendly staff are on hand to help.

Is it suitable for athletes?
Yes. Athletes often use sauna and cold immersion to support recovery between training sessions, reduce soreness, and manage inflammation. The heat + cold combination can also promote relaxation, which can support recovery quality and sleep.

Can beginners stay in the sauna only?
Yes — you can use the sauna only if you prefer. You’re also welcome to use the ice baths. If you’ve never tried contrast therapy before, we recommend working your way down from the 8°C bath to the colder tubs over time. If you have any questions, our friendly staff are on hand to help.

PREPARING FOR YOUR VISIT

What do I need to bring?
Please bring swimwear and a towel.

Can I switch between baths freely?
Yes — but after going in the sauna, we ask that you shower before using an ice bath to help keep the facility clean for all customers.

Can I go straight in an ice bath from the sauna?
We request that all customers shower after exiting the sauna and before entering an ice bath using the showers opposite the ice baths. This is to maintain cleanliness and health for yourself and others.

Should I eat or drink before my session?
We recommend avoiding heavy meals right before your session. Staying hydrated is important, and free drinking water is available on site.
